Brief:
Dara O' Brian's Go 8-bit is game show where celebrities go head to head in video games of their choice. The task is at the end of the game who ever has won the most points by winning the games. Each time a different game has been played with different celebrities the hosts however remain the same.

Visual Codes:

When the show starts there is an introduction which imitates a game start screen. The colours are chosen to make it look more retro as it tries to give the message of when gaming became popular. The colours demonstrated are usually orange, blue and purple. The set is based in a studio and the arrangement of seats and screen are very similar to how a lounge would be set. In addition they normally add some extra props to be used in more practical way than other showers would. During  the second part of the episode the whole set has been built to move so the movement shown is more rotation. The hair and makeup are normally presented in a casual look so that it does not give off any particular impression. The clothes that they wear seem very casual to emphasise the idea of what the show is about. Throughout the show the presenters are show regularly to give information to guide the contestants and in addition to make funny comments to add a relaxed like tone.

Camera:
In the clip there are many different camera shots to show the whole set and every person currently present. By having these multiple shots it encourages the design of the set to be more like a living room. The depth of field is purposely shown in focus as if it was in blur the content would be confusing and boring. The shots usually only consist of a close up of the face, a wide shot showing the whole set or another one which shows only 2 people. These shots only last for a shot length of time to keep up with the fast pace of the show. The cameras are stationary in one place and the only time they move is when the set it moves to make it look like the camera is changing. The position of everyone is show the clear difference between hosts and contestants so that they can dress casual. The framing of the whole episode is simple so the whole screen is just action.

Editing:
The pace throughout the show can be very fast paced as it is competition based. As I was not able to find a whole episode I would mention that a lot of editing is used because it gives information about the games they play. The shot duration is generally short so that it sticks with the fast pace. There are no transitions in-between shots as it is straight to the action to continuously keep the audience engaged as it is shown also to live audience. Throughout the show eye line matches are commonly used in the show during conversation or game play to keep the audience interested.

Sound:
The sound used in the show sounds very retro and nostalgic to get the theme of gaming involved. There are also sound effects as this is very similar or can be classed as a game show. The sound effects sound similar to those used in older games such as Mario or Pacman.
